Pdf Summary
The Interventional Spasticity Management Applications Course is a two-day, hands-on program taking place November 10–11, 2026, in Orlando, Florida. It focuses on evaluating and managing spasticity and other forms of muscle overactivity, including focal and regional interventions using neurolytic agents, neurotoxins, and intrathecal medications. Faculty-led small-group sessions aim to help participants plan and perform procedures with greater confidence and efficiency. Participants will learn to select interventions for upper- and lower-extremity spasticity, use ultrasound, EMG, and electrical stimulation to guide focal chemodenervation, apply interventional techniques for intrathecal baclofen therapy, and describe imaging approaches for troubleshooting intrathecal delivery systems. AAPM&R designates the activity for up to 15.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. It is also approved for up to 15.25 ABPMR MOC Part II Self-Assessment credits; earning MOC credit requires active participation and completion of a course-end self-evaluation. To claim CME credit, attendees must complete an online post-test and evaluation. Credit claiming is scheduled to open November 23, 2026, after AAPM&R sends instructions. Financial relationships for relevant course leaders, faculty, and committee members are disclosed, and identified conflicts have been mitigated through AAPM&R’s conflict-resolution process. Faculty who discuss or demonstrate products without FDA clearance will disclose their status. The course has received educational grants from Amneal, Ipsen Biopharmaceuticals, and Merz Therapeutics, plus in-kind support from several organizations, including AbbVie, GE Healthcare, Medtronic, and Piramal.
