Focused Review Course: Electrodiagnosis
Description

This focused review on the topic of electrodiagnosis is divided into 5 sections:

  • Introduction and Anatomy (14 minutes)
  • EMG/Instrumentation (17 minutes)
  • Common Disorders (21 minutes)
  • Uncommon Disorders (14 minutes)
  • Uncommon Disorders, section 2 (10 minutes)

Learning Objectives
After completing this enduring material, the participant should be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of key anatomical terms: root innervations, peripheral nerve innervation, dual innervations and nerve injury and recovery
  • Recognize and differentiate basic EMG sounds
  • Diagram the effect of changing filter settings on waveforms
  • Identify and assess individuals presenting with symptoms of common and uncommon neuromuscular disorders
  • Interpretation of EMG and NCV findings, together with physical exam, to develop a clinical diagnosis
