Session Description: This session will review high yield, evidence-based information about diagnosis and non-operative management of overhead athlete lifting injuries. This includes: upper extremity bone stress injuries, peripheral nerve injuries, and pectoralis myotendinous injuries.
Learning Objectives
Learning Objective 1: Understand basic biomechanical movements of upper extremity exercises involved in the three major strength sport divisions.
Learning Objective 2: Learn about the relative risk of injury from participating in strength sports.
Learning Objective 3: Define and diagnose common soft tissue injuries to overhead lifters.
Learning Objective 4: Treat common soft tissue injuries to overhead lifters
Learning Objective 5: Learn to identify and treat common osseous injuries in overhead lifters, including distal clavicular osteolysis as well as shoulder and elbow dislocations.
Learning Objective 6: Learn about injury prevention strategies in overhead weightlifters.
