Description

The academic portion of this talk will be split into Intro to Performing Arts Medicine (one speaker), and then Assessment/Physical Exam/Treatment of the Dancer, Musician, and Vocalist (3 speakers). This will be followed by an intro to somatic and complementary techniques used in treating the performing artist (1 speaker). It will conclude with Q &A panel and brainstorming for further topics.

Learning Objectives

• Understand the intrinsic and extrinsic risk factors for injury experienced by performing artists
• Describe special assessments used to evaluate musicians, dancers, and vocalists
• Create a treatment plan for the in-season performing artist
• Understand/implement complementary techniques for managing symptoms in the performing artist
