This interactive, comprehensive activity will guide the learner through all the phases required to complete a Practice Improvement Project. This includes a self-assessment evaluation with remediation, a practice assessment including a random survey of patient charts, review of evidenced based literature, selection of a performance goal and the construction of an improvement plan for their practice. After a recommended 30-day implementation period of the improvement plan, learners will be asked to input their data and a narrative of their experience.

Learning Objectives
After completing this PI activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Assess current knowledge of osteoporosis according to published evidence-based medicine.
  • Assess current incorporation of evidence-based medicine and standards of care into clinical practice and procedures.
  • Identify gaps in utilization of best practices for patient care.
  • Create an action plan based on self-assessment and practice assessment and establish measurable benchmarks to assess progress of action plan.
  • Integrate action plan into clinical practice to improve patient care.
  • Analyze outcomes of action plan, identify areas for improvement according to established benchmarks and incorporate appropriate changes into practice.
