Member May: Overview of Adaptive Sport Classification and Controversies (1.25 CME)
Information

Description

Paris 2024 is around the corner and our nation's best para-athletes will be competing to bring back the gold in the Paralympics. Multiple sports have different ways in which athletes are classified to create an even playing field. Each sport is unique, but the classifications often have similar ideas behind them, such as creating a point system for team sports. Of course, this is not without controversy. Dr. Tow will be giving a general overview of athlete classification and delving further into a few controversies in classification. We hope our community is able to get a foundation in this subject and begin to see the intricacies and importance of classification in adaptive sports.

  • Learning Objective 1: understand the foundation of the classification system in adaptive sports
