Member May 2026: Grant Writing: The Secret of the Recipe
Description

Description

This session, Grant Writing: The Secret of the Recipe, provides participants with a practical and candid look into the realities of securing research funding and the essential steps involved in developing a competitive grant proposal. Through a structured, step‑by‑step approach, attendees will learn how to refine their research ideas, identify appropriate funding sources, understand what agencies look for, and apply foundational frameworks such as the FINER criteria. The session also introduces useful tools, including AI‑based supports for opportunity searching, proposal drafting, budgeting, and ensuring compliance—helping researchers streamline the grant development process while maintaining clarity, rigor, and originality. Designed as an engaging and interactive learning experience, the session combines didactic content, real‑world examples, and practical tips to demystify the grant‑writing journey. Participants will gain insights into common pitfalls, strategies to strengthen competitiveness, and constructive ways to respond to rejection and feedback. By the end of the session, peers will have a clearer understanding of how to turn strong research ideas into fundable proposals and how persistence, preparation, and strategic communication play vital roles in successful grant writing.
