Description
As we are a new member community, the goal of this session "Select Topics in Hand and Upper Extremity Physiatry" is to provide 3-member led lectures on topics of interest to those practicing as hand and upper extremity physiatrists. As part of this mini-lecture Member May session, we hope to present on the following topics of brachial plexus ultrasound, shockwave therapy for upper extremity conditions, and rock climbing finger injuries. By having short mini-lectures, this will provide glimpses or "tasters" of what hand and upper extremity physiatrists encounter in their practices and how others might start to develop their own niches.
Learning Objectives
After completing this live activity, the participant should be able to:
- Identify common finger injuries that may occur during rock climbing
- Recognize upper extremity conditions that may benefit from shockwave therapy
- Develop an understanding for how ultrasound can be used to visualize the brachial plexus in traumatic and inflammatory conditions
